WHSG Regional Coordinator for West and Central Asia: Dr. Sasan Fereidouni
Dr. Sasan Fereidouni is the head of WESCA Wildlife Network. WESCA acts as the regional network of IUCN - Wildlife Health Specialist Group (WHSG) for West & Central Asian Countries. A part of WESCA members are also members of WHSG and effectively respond to local issues related to wildlife health to support and promote wildlife conservation. http://www.wesca.net.
Through WESCA, Dr. Fereidouni works on creating and strengthening local wildlife health capacity, promoting wildlife conservation in the region, and leading and facilitating collaborative research projects on wildlife issues with a focus on emerging zoonotic pathogens.
Dr. Fereidouni has published over 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and serves as an active member of OFFLU, an OIE/FAO network of experts on animal influenza through which he has lead and participated in several international training workshops.
